Drew And Merissa

After our amazing run of hot weather in July, August has been more typical, with rain one day, sun the next, followed by overcast. The next week looks to be more rain. Hopefully we will get one more run of sun before the month draws to a close, and Merissa heads back to another year teaching the little ones.

This summer has been good thus far, with Martin’s wedding, and the trip to BC being the highlights. It was a much different summer than either of us have had before. Merissa, for the first time in ages, actually had the summer to relax. She wasn’t working at Zellers, she wasn’t worried about where she would work come September, and she wasn’t planning a wedding! For myself, it was a bit more typical, but having someone to come home to after work was nice. A bit of a contrast to non summer months, when Merissa was often at work late.

Meisha took to the outdoors excitedly. She was often quite cute, trying to catch any form of insect that passed her by. In a rather unique twist on the classic “mouse on the doorstep” stories many people have with cats, ours leaves us dragonflies by the door. Not once nor twice, but several times. Too cute. She also has recently had the opportunity to become guard kitty extraordinary as she has defended our property from an invading cat on multiple occasions. What will she do come winter and snow?

The Fringe is on this week, with any luck, the weather breaks long enough for us to attend for an evening. Maybe even get some footbagging in, who knows. That actually is probably the biggest adjustment for me, not nearly as much footbagging as I was accustomed to in years past. This growing up and working for a living really gets in the way some times!
